HDH
Core Business / Technology
HDH Medical Ltd. has developed an innovative Hermetic Docking Head (HDH)
vascular device, supported by surgical instruments, and a suture-less
open and laparoscopic surgical procedure, which is capable of
significantly enhancing the existing treatment of aortic and peripheral
aneurysms, arterial occlusions and blood vessel trauma. The HDH device
is used to rapidly and permanently connect any standard vascular graft
to any blood vessel which has a diameter of more than 5mm. Suture-less
and leak proof anastomosis may be performed in less than two minutes,
which shortens the cross–clamping time by an order of magnitude, and
reduces operative and post-operative complications.
Main Markets / Applications
The first target market segment is open Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
repair, where the shorter time in surgery, reduction of operative and
post-operative complications, shorter ICU and hospital stays, and fewer
blood transfusions needed for open repair using the HDH devices with a
standard graft generate a direct clinical and economic value. Over
100,000 AAA repairs are performed in Europe and the USA with an average
cost exceeding $60,000/procedure. Additional applications include repair
of other types of aneurysms, femoral-popliteal bypass, vascular trauma
and AV shunts.
Uniqueness / Advantage over Existing Products
There is no currently existing laparoscopic aneurysm repair solution
available on the market. For open repair, HDH’s technology can
dramatically improve patient safety, simplifies the procedure, and
offers significant advantages over the endovascular approach.
