CoreBusiness/Technology
We have developed the technology to wrap any stent with a thin, super
flexible, knitted mesh. The micron level fiber blocks embolic debris
before dislodging during and after the procedure. The structure, which
uses a minimal amount of material over the entire stent, reduces the
risk of thrombosis. It also facilitates endothelial growth which may
reduce the risk of late thrombosis. The net can also be used as a
vehicle for a broad spectrum of therapeutic agents, enabling more
efficient pharmacokinetics. The system can be mounted on any stent, and
can be used with any delivery system without affecting deliverability or
radial force. The sleeve is secured to the stent during delivery to the
lesion via a patented locking mechanism. Unlocking is automatic and
seamless as the stent is deployed.
Main Markets/Applications
MGuard, our first product, is indicated for acute coronary syndromes
resulting from occluded saphenous vein grafts (SVG), and approximately
$400 million annual market opportunity. Our second product will target
the 1.5 million people diagnosed with carotid blockage. As soon as we
show a lower post procedure stroke rate, the market will expand to a $1
billion annual opportunity. The ultimate market opportunity for embolic
protection devices should reach approximately 4 million procedures at $3
billion a year.
Uniqueness/Advantage Over Existing Products
Existing embolic protective devices offer protection during procedure
only. In addition, the stenting procedure is longer and more complex
using current protective devices. Our device is the only device that
offers protection during and post procedure while maintaining the same
deliverability.
